Default race division for athletes unless another option is chosen during registration.
Athletes wishing to compete in the Premier Division must have competed in an international-distance triathlon within the last 12 months and with overall times of 2 hr 15 minutes for men and 2 hr 30 minutes for women. Athletes in the Premier Division removes them from being eligible for age group awards.
Life Time Tri Minneapolis presented by Just BARE Chicken will be hosting the Junior Triathlon Invitational, an exciting race-within-the-race for juniors 13-17 years of age. This race takes place on the Life Time Tri Minneapolis Sprint Course, and participants will be placed in the last sprint wave.
Divisions and awards
This unique junior/youth format will present individual awards for the following age groups: 13-14, 15-16, and 17. Awards will be presented to the top three places for both male and females. All participants will receive a t-shirt, goodie bag, swim cap, bib number, finisher medal, post-race food and more.
While this event is open to all athletes, there is a minimum standard that must be met to ensure the safety of all participants. Junior athletes must 1) have previously competed in a minimum of one triathlon or competed for a minimum of two years within an organized swim team/club and 2) be able to swim a minimum of .5 miles unassisted in open water.
Participants have the option to enter the international or sprint distance relay team, consisting of 2–3 people. You can choose which person will complete each specific discipline. Team members share a single timing chip, which is passed from one team member to another in transition.
